Details
The research of Bacillus veles is mainly concentrated in the fields of feed, medicine, textile, aquatic products, sewage treatment, plant protection and so on. As a new biocontrol microbial factor, Bacillus velesi has attracted much attention in the aspects of plant disease prevention and control and plant growth promotion.
Control plant diseases
Bacillus velesi can effectively inhibit a variety of plant pathogens, such as Phytophthora capsicum, Fusarium rot, Fusarium oxysporum, Rhizoctonia solani. As well as several pathogenic fungi on leafy vegetables, including brown spot fungus, stalk point mold, Botrytis cinerea variety and rape sclerotiorum, it can effectively prevent and control a variety of plant diseases.
The antagonism of Bacillus velesi against pathogenic microorganisms is mainly through the bacteriostatically active metabolites secreted by it. The bacteria can secrete and produce a variety of biologically active substances, including cell wall degrading enzymes (glucanases and proteases), lipopeptide antibiotics (surfactin, iturin, and fencamin), and polyketide antibiotics.
Mechanism of action: hydrolyzes the cell wall of pathogenic fungi; inhibits the germination of pathogenic fungal conidia, germ tube growth and appressorium formation; changes the structure and permeability of the cytoplasmic membrane, causing the leakage of intracellular substances, resulting in cell death.
Boost crop growth
Bacillus velesi can secrete a variety of plant hormones and volatile compounds, such as IAA, NH, and ACC deaminase, to promote a variety of crops such as beets, carrots, cucumbers, peppers, potatoes, radishes, pumpkins, tomatoes and turnips growth.
